Why does the app ask for my postcode?
During the setup process or in your Account Settings, MyGrowPal asks you to input your UK postcode. We use this to provide a highly localized gardening experience tailored specifically to your growing climate.
How we use your postcode:
- Local Weather Data: We query weather forecasts for your coordinates to adjust your weekly watering and sowing alerts.
- Frost Date Calculation: Postcodes let us identify your local elevation and region, helping us calculate your average last frost date in spring and first frost date in autumn. This keeps your tender seedlings safe.
- UK Growing Zones: Sowing schedules change if you garden in Cornwall versus Scotland. Your postcode maps you to the correct zone automatically.
🔒 Privacy First
We do not access your mobile device's GPS hardware, and we do not track your real-time physical movement. Your postcode is simply geocoded to approximate coordinates (accuracy within ~1km) so we can fetch local weather trends. Your address remains private.
If you move house or want to change your location, you can update your postcode at any time in the app by going to Settings > Garden Profile > Location Postcode.
